About the Wedding Quilt Kits

♥   What is in the Quilt Kits?

♥ Wedding Wishes Instruction Book     ♥ Individual packets for each Quilt Block contain a full-sized Block Diagram, Template Page/s, Fusible Web Sheet with practice block, background fabric square, miscellaneous appliqué fabrics, and Direction Outline. ♥ Swag and Hearts Appliqué Packet for outer border ♥ Precut Sashing and Border strips, precut Prairie Point squares ♥ Batting and Backing and Fabric for Hanging Sleeve (not included with 12-Block 12" hand appliqué option) ♥ Wedding Wishes Book ♥

♥ Option for Stitchable versus NON-stitchable fusible methods

After the size of the project is determined, the next decision to be made is whether the edges of the appliqués should be adhered later with machine stitching or not.  Machine stitching around appliqués with color matched thread, gives the quilt a more finished overall appearance. If this option is desired, an appropriate light-weight fusible web will be included in all the block packets.  Machine stitching, which is generally done with a close zigzag stitch, does require sewing experience, a variety of threads, and extra effort. If this web is used and the edges are not secured by stitching, the appliqués may come loose during the finishing process or over time

As a second option, an ultra-hold web can be included in the block packets for securing the appliqués. With this web, the appliqués will stay put without stitching.   They will look good, and be durable enough for wall display. Appliqués fused with ultra-hold web are difficult to stitch later since the extra adhesive may gum up machine needles.  This is a great option for someone who does not have the time or skill to do the machine stitching.  It is also a good option for reception Table Runners because they are quicker to produce and will not have as much use - except to bring out for every anniversary celebration as the years go by.

♥ Option for Larger hand-appliqué blocks - A very special option, our hand-appliqué larger quilt tops.  These do not include batting or backing but are especially assembled kits for those who prefer handwork and a larger project.

♥  Color Selection option  -  There are two basic color schemes with fabrics tastefully coordinated within these groups. There are options for choosing a background color to alternate with the snow white, a narrow sashing fabric to frame the blocks, and a scalloped swag fabric color for the outer border.   These fabrics will change slightly over time depending on availability, but you can’t go wrong with any of the selections. We will be happy to comply with any alternate color combination you would prefer. Always a good option is to let Chickadee Charms quilters coordinate the kit for you.

♥  BLOCK SELECTION OPTION  - The smaller projects such as the Six-Block Wall Quilt, Table Runner, and Pillow require that specific blocks be selected.  This can be an individual choice or be left to the discretion of Chickadee Charms.

♥  custom machine embroidery options   -  Custom embroidery options are available for personalizing the Announcement Block, the First Home Block, and for Individual Block messages.

    First Home  (street address, city & state)
    Individual Block (short message or first names and date, etc.)

♥ Quilt Project Finishing Option – After the blocks are created, there is work to be done later to finish it into a quilt. If you are unable to do it, or find someone locally who can, Chickadee Charms will provide professional finishing services for a limited number of projects.  Check with us for the current cost for finishing.
